As an artist, I undergo many creative endeavors with varying degrees of success. Even in failure, each project I undertake is an experience that challenges me to get out of my comfort zone and presents an opportunity for growth. As C.S. Lewis once said,
“Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.”
However, I have been struggling with figuring out how I can share my experiences with others without feeling a sensation of shouting into the digital abyss and hoping for the best. With the various algorithms and ways in which content is shared in today’s social media platforms, I had been skeptical of uploading my thoughts as they relate to myself as a performer. Of course, I am building up my social media accounts to reflect my professional image, but these platforms lack a sense of ownership that I am looking for. Copyright and content ownership has become quite the gray area in this digital world, which has led to an interesting shift in how artists of all kinds safeguard their work.
In this new year, I have made it my goal to carve out my own space online, in which I can confidently share my experiences and endeavors with you. My intention is to establish this slice of internet pie as a place for dialogue, in the hopes that we can come together and celebrate learning and creating. Really, I’m just ecstatic for this opportunity to genuinely share, from me to you!
